This well executed sampler is almost identical to one worked by Elizabeth Harris and illustrated in the Catalogue of Embroideries
The Lady Lever Art Gallery. Page 239.
By repute this sampler was an original presentation piece to the owner of Charborough Park, near Wimborne, Dorset and was executed on the premises.
A seven gabled country house stands within parkland with deer. The top section with a coat of arms and a short four line verse. Coloured silks on a fine wool ground using satin, chain and cross stitch.
Contained in the original gilt wood frame.
