Based on an engraving by Boetićus A. van Bolwert after a painting by Peter Paul Rubens. Circa 1650.

This rare embroidery is an example of fine professional work being produced in Europe during the mid 17th century. Embroidered in chenille, silk woven metal brocade (nue) and metallic silver and gold thread on a part painted satin-weave silk ground.
A comparision should be made with another embroidery 'The Revenge of Queen Thomyris over Cyrus' dated 1655 in the Holburne Museum, Bath
