Witney Antiques has a diverse stock of antique clocks and household and marine barometers. We hope interested individuals and specialists in antiquarian horology will check our web site regularly for recently acquired English clocks and Continental clocks. We endeavour to stock a selection of long-case clocks (grandfather clocks) with mahogany, oak, walnut, and marquetry cases. We have long case and bracket clocks with lacquered decoration also. And bracket clocks in rosewood, ebony, tortoiseshell, ormolu, brass and marble. We handle clocks from a diverse range of makers, including examples by important 17th century makers, Thomas Tompion, Daniel Quare, Joseph Knibb and Christopher Gould. Our selection of antique timepieces and barometers are chosen for their originality, quality and aesthetic appeal. Witney Antiques: Antique Clocks and Barometers

James Fayrer, London.

An important regulator longcase clock of exceptional quality, of eight day duration, contained in a mahogany case. Fayrer was awarded the Isis Medal by the Society of Arts in 1819 for a three train sidereal regulator.

English. Circa 1820.
Height: 187 cm (731/2 in). Width: 51 cm (20 in). Depth: 28 cm (11 in).

William Billinge. Liverpool.

An unusual and attractive mahogany longcase clock. With a finely painted dial depicting the four seasons, also with phases of the moon and a seconds dial. Billinge is recorded working in Liverpool between 1796 and 1824. Liverpool was noted for the production of very high quality clocks.

Height: 240 cm (94 1/2 in). Width: 56 cm (22 in). Depth: 29 cm (11 1/2 in).

Haley & Son, London.

A fine clock by a member of an important clock making family working in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Striking the hours and with pull repeat. Of 8 day duration with strike silent and date aperture.

English Circa 1830.
Height: 64 cm (25 in). Width: 39 cm (15in). Depth: 24 cm (9 1/2 in).

Marenzeller. Wien.

A high quality Vienna regulator wall clock by this well known maker. In a good walnut veneered case of small proportions with discreet carving on the base and cresting.

Vienna. Mid 19th century.
Height: 102 cm (40 in). Width: 27 cm (10 1/2 in). Depth: 11 cm (4 1/2 in).

Thomas Upjohn, Exeter.

A good bracket clock in an ebonised case. The works striking / silent and with a pull repeat. A finely engraved backplate and original verge movement. This well known maker is recorded as working between 1760 and 1795.

English. Circa 1775.
Height: 52 cm (including Handle) (20 1/2 in). Width: 27cm (10 1/2 in). Depth: 18 cm (7 in).

C. Olds. Bath.

A fine quality regulator longcase clock of eight day duration. The attractive mahogany casework is of the very highest standard. Part of the original sales label is attached to the inside of the hood of the case. Olds is recorded as working at 22 New Bond Street, Bath in 1836.
